How we glaze

Every Tidewell glaze is mixed in the studio from raw materials. The speckles come from iron-rich granules in our clay body that bleed through the glaze in the kiln.

We dip each piece by hand, wax the foot so it stays raw, and fire to cone 6 over about nine hours. The kiln cools overnight, and the morning unload is still the best part of the week.
